Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

Lake County Solid Waste Department provides an option for the disposal of unwanted products that may pose a risk to the environment through the HHW Program.  The HHW facility is operated in conjunction with WLSSD’s HHW program.

The program is offered as a service to County residents.  The facility is open from mid May through mid September during the hours of Noon to 5:30 PM each Wednesday.

As the name suggests, this is a program for Households, at this time there is no provision for small businesses or commercial users in this program.

The County Solid Waste Coordinator is available to help with technical questions regarding disposal of problems materials:  (218) 834-8304, 834-8303

The HHW Facility is located in Two Harbors on Recycle Center Drive, just behind the main recycle center building.

In conjunction with the HHW Program, Lake County also sponsors two (2) sites for disposal of used motor oil and used oil filters.  One site is located in Two Harbors (next to the HHW Building), there is also a disposal site located in the City of Silver Bay (at Blazer Repair).
