NRCS Local Work Group Meeting

You are invited to the Farm Bill Local Work Group Meeting for Cook and Lake Counties. This meeting will be an open discussion opportunity to provide input as to the funding priorities for the Conservation Provisions of the Federal Farm Bill that the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is responsible for implementing. As the local Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs), we work with NRCS to help put practices on the ground. Each year, a local work group is brought together for the purpose of providing input on the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).

During this meeting we can:

• Identify and prioritize resource concerns/practices and develop specific ranking questions
• Identify geographic areas/watersheds to receive priority within the County (Cook and Lake)
• Make technical and programmatic recommendations (are there practices or scenarios that need to be added in order to address a specific resource concern in the County (Cook and Lake))
• Improve forest health and/or improve wildlife habitat

Your input will be important to helping us implement the new Farm Bill.
