Lake County Solid Waste

The Lake County Solid Waste Department is responsible for all solid waste activities within Lake County.

Lake County provides a recycling center, a demolition landfill, and a program for the disposal of hazardous waste.

The Solid Waste Department is available to work with small business as well as individuals to provide technical assistance.

The Lake County Board of Commissioners has adopted a Solid Waste Management Plan which is subject to annual revision.  copies are available at public libraries within the county, the Solid Waste Officer’s office, and at the County Board office in Two Harbors.

The Solid Waste Officer serves as liaison between the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, the Board of Commissioners, and the citizens of Lake County while also representing Lake County on both regional and state solid waste issues.

As of September 15, 2015, the Demolition Landfill is no longer accepting asbestos-containing materials.
