AIS Watercraft Inspector
The Lake County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) seeks self-motivated individuals to provide watercraft inspections and outreach to prevent the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in Lake County, Minnesota. Salary:
$14.50-$15.50 hourly

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified applicants must have an interest in natural resources or related field. Must possess the ability to work independently. Must have good computer and communication skills. Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle available for use.
Responsibilities:
• Serves as a Level 1, DNR Certified watercraft inspector at assigned inspection stations, which are primarily Lake Superior Public Water Accesses • Provides watercraft inspections and education in Lake County • Provides excellent customer service and communicates effectively to launch users and the public • Educates launch users about the importance of AIS prevention and distributes outreach materials • Attends trainings and fulfills requirements from the MNDNR to become an authorized inspector • Records work time, and maintains daily inspection reports and data entry with an electronic tablet • Performs light access maintenance during slow boat use periods • Assists in additional AIS outreach and prevention efforts as outlined by the SWCD, including staffing booths at festivals • Other duties as assigned.

Applicants must meet essential physical requirements of the position. Work involves mostly outside field work (95%). Long duration standing. Frequent position changes; lifting, pushing, and pulling requirement more than 50 pounds on an infrequent basis; exposures not limited to heat, cold, and wet conditions; and use of the senses of sight and smell are necessary in this work.
