Pay Your Property Taxes

Lake County property owners have multiple ways to pay property taxes. There may be a processing fee, depending on your payment method as described below.

Update for Tax Year 2026:

We are excited to announce that we have partnered with AutoAgent on a new platform for online payments and in-person credit card transactions called Municipay. You will now be able to set up an account, search for the most up-to-date tax information on your property, update your mailing address, and utilize payment options we’ve never offered before, such as automated payment or recurring payments.

Payment Methods:

  • Cash
  • Personal Check, Cashier’s Check or Money Order
  • Credit/Debit card payments incur a fee of 2.3% of the charge total, with a minimum of $2.00
  • E-Check/ACH payments incur a flat fee of $1.50

Due Dates

Generally, the due dates are as listed below, but there are certain classifications that are subject to different due dates – always refer to your tax statement for the most accurate information. To avoid penalty, envelopes must be postmarked by the due date to be considered on time. Penalty rates are listed on the back of your tax statement. If you are late, please contact our office at (218) 834-8315 for the total amount of taxes due.

Real Estate

  • May 15 – first half taxes; if total tax is $100 or less, full tax amount due
  • October 15 – second half taxes for commercial and residential property
  • November 15 – second half for agricultural property

Personal Property

  • May 15 – in full

Mobile Homes

  • August 31 – first half
  • November 15 – second half
