Records Search

In order for this office to complete a search of our records for you,
please complete a records search application form which can be found by downloading the Records Search Application or upon request, we can mail you an application form.

Birth Records

Our birth records begin in the late 1880’s.  Since our birth records are mixed with some confidential records, our birth records are not open to the public.  However, the office staff will perform basic searches at no cost upon receipt of a completed records search application form. Non-certified copies are $13.00 and any additional copies of the same record ordered at the same time are $9.00.

Death Records

Our death records begin in 1891 and are open to the public. Non-certified copies are $13.00 and any additional copies of the same record ordered at the same time are $6.00.

Marriage Records

Our marriage records begin in 1891.  Please be aware that in Minnesota the marriage record is filed in the county where the marriage license was obtained, not necessarily the county where the marriage ceremony took place.  The Minnesota Official Marriage System (MOMS), is a good place to begin your search if you are uncertain as to where the marriage license was obtained.  The cost of a marriage certificate is $9.00.  Additional copies of the same record may be ordered at the same time at a cost of $9.00 each.

Naturalization Records

Our naturalization records begin in 1891. The cost of a naturalization record is $9.00.

Adoption, Divorce, and Probate

Records for adoption, divorce and probate are filed in the Lake County Court Administration Department.  That office can be reached by calling (218) 834-8330.
